Construction has begun on a pedestrian skybridge that will span Bellevue Way. The bridge is being built by Kemper Development to connect Lincoln Square, a new residential and retail tower under construction, and the Bellevue Square shopping center.

The modern glass and steel structure, featuring cables and treelike anchors, was designed to meet the city’s requirement for unique architecture, said Ron Smith, vice president with Kemper Development and general manager of Lincoln Square.
