All lanes are open on Bothell-Everett Highway through Mill Creek after an accident snarled traffic and closed several lanes as police investigated a serious collision involving a bicyclist earlier today.

Investigators said the accident occurred after a 52-year-old man traveling south on a bicycle failed to stop at a red light at Bothell-Everett Highway and Mill Creek Boulevard. A 40-year-old Everett woman driving a minivan hit the bicycle as she turned left from Mill Creek Boulevard to the highway, said Mill Creek police spokeswoman Robin Swanson.

“The driver of the van was making a legal turn,” Swanson said.

Officers were dispatched at 1:40 p.m. to the crash, which is just south of Mill Creek Town Center.
