Six people were injured Saturday afternoon when the caboose of a children’s amusement-ride train tipped over during the Meeker Days festival in Puyallup, and later at the event, a 42-year-old woman was hospitalized after a zip-line accident.

Puyallup police said the conductor was turning the train around at the intersection of Sixth Avenue Southwest and Second Street Southwest when the accident occurred.

All six passengers — adults and children — were hurt, and several were treated at the scene for minor injuries and abrasions. A boy, 8, was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

A preliminary investigation found the train car had been improperly loaded, police said — likely with too much weight on one side of the caboose.

Later, police said the woman hurt in the zip-line accident was in stable condition at a hospital. KING 5 reported she suffered a head injury when the line collapsed. Police said a preliminary investigation indicated a mechanical failure.
