Two homeless men convicted of killing the man who gave them jobs and shelter were given long prison terms Friday in King County Superior Court.
David Koenigs, 57, a former director of St. Vincent de Paul in Seattle, had hired Richard Dwayne Jones, 33, to help him remodel a Beacon Hill fixer-upper he’d just bought with his new wife.
But his charitable motives led to his death, prosecutors said, when Jones stabbed, strangled and beat him to death at the home in December 2005.
Jones, who was convicted of first-degree murder in Koenigs’ death, was sentenced to 48 years in prison.
