Seafair's biggest annual parade, the Torchlight Parade, fills Seattle's Fourth Avenue Saturday evening, July 30, 2011.

Legions of parade fans will be out starting Saturday morning with lawn chairs and beach blankets to save their curbside places along Fourth Avenue for one of Seattle’s favorite summer traditions, that evening’s Seafair Torchlight Parade.

Giant helium balloons, drill teams, marching bands, equestrian units, parade grand marshal Drew Carey and Seafair clowns, pirates and princesses make their way through downtown Seattle starting at 7:30 p.m. Before the parade, cheer on the Seafair Torchlight Run along the parade route, a festive event with many participants dressed up for the Best Pirate Costume Contest.

Paid bleacher seating is another option for parade-goers, though many sections are sold out; see www.seafair.comto check availability.

Saturday afternoon, before the parade, the Seafair Taste of Torchlight at Seattle Center celebrates the parade and run with sponsor exhibits, vendors and a display of parade floats, from 2-6 p.m. Admission is free. For more information:, 206-684-7200 or
