I have to respond to Karen Molenaar Terrell’s letter to the editor [ “Medicare panic,” Opinion, Nov. 30 ]. Rather than turning off the TV in response to bad news about the demise of Medicare, I suggest that she and everyone else start paying closer attention to it.
Getting rid of Medicare is exactly what “they” (the Trump administration and Republican-controlled Congress) have in mind. If “we” (the overwhelming majority of U.S. citizens) want to maintain one of the most successful and needed programs in our nation’s history, then we all need to make our voices heard by contacting not only our own congressional representatives and senators, but House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell as well.
