Seattle is home to some seriously cool men, and we have some excellent menswear shops to serve their style.

Whether you don a workday uniform or keep an eye on the latest trends, there are always one or two things you can switch up for a fresh look. Here are some picks to pep up your everyday look.

Apparel

A great pair of jeans can be a man’s best friend. If you haven’t picked up a new pair in a while, consider a raw-denim style that you break in for a custom look. Acne Studios’ Raw Max Jean ($230 at Totokaelo, Capitol Hill) has a relaxed straight leg with a bit of stretch for effortless cool.

If you live in jeans, try swapping them out for chinos every once in awhile. Stop into Bonobos, a retailer famous for its trousers, for a pair of Washed Chinos ($88 at Bonobos, U District). With five fits and a score of colors, there is sure to be a pair that fits your style.

Stock up on tees that can be layered but also look good enough to wear on their own. The tailored Kit & Ace Maxwell Brushed Long Sleeve ($128 at Kit & Ace, Capitol Hill) is made from washable, ultra-soft French terry with a bit of stretch.

A classic oxford shirt is a wardrobe workhorse. The Uniqlo Men Oxford Slim-Fit Long-Sleeve Shirt ($30 at Uniqlo, Bellevue) comes in six colors and has a modern, slim fit in cool 100 percent cotton.

Layer up over T-shirts or button-downs with the Billy Reid Shiloh Shawl Collar Sweatshirt (on sale for $88 at Ian, Belltown), a cozy but fashionable design finished with a small chest pocket and leather button loops.

A well-packed workout bag improves the chances you’ll hit the gym. Pick up some new gear, such as the Nike Distance Dri-FIT Running Shorts ($50) and Dri-FIT Touch Heathered Short Sleeve T-Shirt ($35, both at Nordstrom), which are comfy and sweat-wicking.

COATS

If you’ve been suffering with an old coat this winter, consider investing in a versatile and timeless peacoat. The wool J.Crew Dock Peacoat with Thinsulate ($298) has a classic military style, finished with a 10-button front and fold-down collar. Team this handsome coat with straight-leg jeans and a scarf for a look that goes anywhere.

Swap your camping shell for the Stutterheim Stockholm Raincoat ($298 at Glasswing, Capitol Hill), an expertly constructed piece in rubberized cotton with double-welded seams.

ACCESSORIES

A warm hat is your first line of defense in the winter months, but it doesn’t have to be any old stocking cap. The Norse Projects Beanie ($55 at Glasswing) is made from lambswool yarn and comes in three colors for easy coat coordination.

The latest look in glasses is clear frames. Check out and try on an array of styles at the new Warby Parker Annex in Fremont. The Percey Frames in Crystal (from $95) are a classic round shape that look sophisticated and smart.
