A Seattle-ready line of Forest Service and Smokey Bear themed items is now available at Filson.
Today Seattle outdoor outfitter Filson launched a limited-edition collaboration with the U.S. Forest Service and National Forest Foundation.
The line features the USFS’s iconic badge with an evergreen in the center on items such as Filson’s Medium Duffle ($425), a Pendleton Wool Blanket ($350) and Washington-made Liberty Water Bottles ($30). T-shirts, enamel cups, hats, a watch and more round out the mostly black and otter-green line.
To celebrate the launch, Filson is holding a pancake breakfast on Saturday (Aug. 5) at 9 a.m. with all proceeds going to the NFF. Tickets available here for $8 (children under 5 eat free). There will also be USFS representatives on hand to discuss local recreational opportunities, music, barbecue, outdoor skills lessons and a chance to win an “America the Beautiful” annual recreation pass. And Lindsey Ross, of La Chambre Photographique, will be on site doing tintype and ambrotype portraits today through Sunday. Reserve an appointment here.
There will also be a 360-degree virtual reality experience of Heybrook Lookout Tower, a fire lookout tower in Index, Washington, that is being restored as a space available to the public for overnight stays. In the experience, viewers can immerse themselves in the sights and sounds from Heybrook Tower’s perch within the Snoqualmie-Mt. Baker National Forest.
