Five sweaters to warm up your outfits as temperatures dip.

About 99 percent of your transitional dressing woes can be solved with one simple solution: Put a sweater on.

Whether you’re battling morning chill or your outfit just feels a little lightweight for October, a sweater provides warmth, layering and a way to tie a look together. Keep in mind, too, that putting a sweater on also includes the option of wearing it over your shoulders or around your waist if the weather warms up mid-afternoon.

Here are five sweaters we’re loving for fall.

Zara Ribbed Cardigan ($30 at zara.com). A zip-up detail makes this slim sweater pretty as a stand-alone top, adding to its versatility.

Filson Cowichan Vest ($395 at Filson, Sodo). Each year, local firm Filson commissions a limited-edition Cowichan pattern for a vest and a sweater. The products are then handwoven by members of the tribe in British Columbia. This year’s vest looks great with jeans, or warms up a little black dress in a totally Pacific Northwest way.

H&M Oversized Cashmere Sweater ($129 at hm.com). Check out H&M’s Premium Quality line for on-trend styles made to last a bit longer than the company’s fast-fashion pieces. This 100 percent cashmere sweater is fashionably oversized, with dramatically long sleeves.

Everlane The Cashmere Turtleneck ($170 at everlane.com). A pop of red is a great way to stand out in a sea of black, and will carry you through the holiday party season.

TNA Spectra Sweater ($125 at us.aritzia.com). Layer this extra-soft merino wool cardigan over or under just about anything to create interesting cool-weather looks.
