Cutting through the racks to find affordable and on-trend women's swimsuits.

A couple weeks ago, while packing for a trip I’d already gone over budget on, I decided to search for an affordable swimsuit to bring along.

Despite the thousands of swimsuits now rushing into stores, I managed to narrow it down to a few favorites priced under $100. Here are my picks.

Zara Frilled Bikini Top ($23) and Bikini Bottoms with Frill ($23, both at zara.com). Consider this the year of the ruffle in swimwear — the trend is everywhere. This bikini does it well, mixing a great print with front frills on the top and bottom.

Fabletics Valentina Midi Bikini Top ($45) and Bottom ($40, both at fabletics.com). More athlete than beach bum? Try this sleek suit with gymwear-inspired perforations over a nude lining. An internal bra with removable cups and compression fabric provide support during beach runs or pickup volleyball games.

Eloquii Off the Shoulder Ruffle Bikini Top ($80 at eloquii.com). The chic plus-size line adds swimwear this year, including this on-trend top that can be worn with or without shoulder straps. Heavy-weight tricot fabric and an inner sling bra provide support and shape, while 50+ UPF provides sun protection. Pair it with high-waist briefs for a look that’s oh-so retro-cool.

& Other Stories One Shoulder Knot Swimsuit ($65 at stories.com). Fashion’s off-the-shoulder looks are rushing into swimwear. This one-piece has a shoulder tie and cute knot details, along with a cool, original print featuring tropical botanicals, exotic cocktails and bathing beauties.

Urban Outfitters Out From Under Bon Bon Bikini Top ($45) and Bottom ($42, both at urbanoutfitters.com). Snap details update the black bikini on this sporty set. The top and bottom both have moderate coverage, and running-short-style bottoms add to the modern athleisure feel.
