Small décor pieces can add big style to your home as summer turns to fall.

Whether you’re seeing your home in a new light (literally, with summer sunlight streaming in), or are looking ahead to nesting this fall, a few small pieces can go a long way in perking up your space.

Here are some finds that will add pop and interest to your abode.

LIGHTING

Light can transform a space, and these locally designed pieces are as fashionable as they are functional.

Five Ply Design’s Cereus Lamp ($195–$295 at five-ply-design.myshopify.com) was designed in Seattle and is made out of American basswood. Inside, a vinyl-coated fiberglass shade gives off a softly diffused light.

Dress up your kitchen or dining room with Pigeon Toe Design’s Beaded Pendant Lamp ($269–$299 at pigeontoeceramics.com). The Portland-made pendants mix porcelain pieces with brass hardware to create jewelry for your home.

VASES

Summer blooms fade, so pick up vases and planters that also stand on their own as art pieces.

A mason jar, old cup or favorite piece of pottery — anything really — can become a vase with local firm Fruitsuper’s Design Anywhere Vases ($38 for three at fruitsuperdesign.com). They’re powder-coated steel in three bright hues or chic white, with a cork back to keep them from slipping.

Show off your air-plant collection with Portland’s Carter & Rose Wall Planters ($14–$150 at carterandrose.com). Available in six sizes and an array of colors, the reclaimed-wood and ceramic pieces come with an air plant and loads of simple style.

If you tend to kill plants, have no fear. The earthenware Quiet Clementine Yellow Hanging Vase ($50 at Moorea Seal, Belltown) looks as good empty as it does with a plant or flowers inside.

Even in summer, evening can get chilly, so it’s always nice to have cozy textiles at hand.

Eighth Generation’s Renewal Wool Blanket ($198 at eighthgeneration.com) is a standout from the local company’s new blanket line. It was designed by Sarah Agaton Howes in collaboration with Eighth Generation’s Inspired Natives Project, which promotes the work of rising artists. The 100 percent wool blanket is double-sided, fits a queen-sized bed and is gorgeous with its floral motif.

Drape the summer-weight Hay Mega Knit Wool Blanket ($289 at woonwinkelhome.com) over a chair or sofa for a stylish piece that’s also luxuriously soft to curl up with.

Kate Spade’s home line keeps growing, and the Yorkville Dobbins Pillow ($129 at luluandgeorgia.com), in soft linen, is a fun, colorful addition for a sofa or bed.

OBJECTS WITH MEANING

Art objects can add personality and interest to a space — or become visual clutter. Be sure yours are the former, with thoughtful pieces that mean something to you.

Made in Ballard, the Ladies and Gentlemen Playscape Mobile — Glass Circle ($130 at ladiesandgentlemenstudio
.com) rotates to create changing compositions with its wood, brass, copper and glass pieces.

Crystals are trendy, but they also have an energy and beauty that make them great additions to a windowsill or desk. The Violet Light Moroccan Mixed Crystal ($72 at Moorea Seal) is said to aid learning and creativity. The crystals at Moorea Seal are one-of-a-kind, so if this one has sold, look for another which with you connect.
