Have you ever taken something old and made it new again by altering it, repurposing it or adding trim, buttons or beads? The Seattle Times and Dana Landon’s style blog, It’s My Darlin’, want to see your handiwork. At stake: $100, which will be awarded to the most creative “re-fashionistas” in two age categories: teen (13 to 17) and adult. We’ll award a $50 judges’ choice prize, too, for an entry that catches our collective fancy in this “upcycle showdown.”

Entries may consist of clothing or accessories made at least in part (the more the better!) from used, vintage or recycled materials. In an email, briefly describe the materials used, tell us how much they cost, and include your name, age, city of residence and phone number. Attach a photo. Send to

Deadline: 5 p.m. Oct. 15.

Winners will be notified by Oct. 23.

Note: Your personal information will not be published anywhere, shared with anyone or used for any other purpose than the administration of this contest. Dana Landon and Seattle Times editors will select winners, who will then be photographed with their upcycled items for a story in The Seattle Times. (Contest entry implies agreement to be photographed.)
