"Y: The Last Man — Whys and Wherefores"
Catch up with the final issues of writer Brian K. Vaughan and artist Pia Guerra's acclaimed comic from DC's adult imprint in this trade paperback, and try not to get choked up. Journey's end for Yorick Brown and his pet monkey, Ampersand — the only two males alive on Earth after a plague — is tragic, funny and cleverly satirical. In other words, just like the rest of the series (Vertigo, $14.99).

Art
Olympic Sculpture Park
Seattle Art Museum contemporary art curator Michael Darling shows his hand this summer, with two new temporary installations at Olympic Sculpture Park. I like what I see. Dennis Oppenheim's orange "Safety Cones" dot the park, funny in their gargantuan scale — a giant reminder to pay attention. And, in the Pavilion, Geoff McFetridge's smart installation "in The Mind," reminiscent of Keith Haring's bold graphics, strikes just the right tone (for a video about "Safety Cones": www.seattleartmuseum.org/visit/OSP/default.asp).

Classical
Olympic Music Festival
Chamber music in a barn — sounds quaint, right? But there's nothing precious about the performances at this summerlong festival. This is classical music at its soul-stirring best, close enough to feel the strings vibrate. Saturdays and Sundays through Labor Day, 7360 Center Road, Quilcene; $11-$27 (360-732-4800 or www.olympicmusicfestival.org).
