Spring means blooms, baseball and boot camps — the weekend-warrior kind.
For instance, Seattle Parks and Recreation sponsors a boot camp each Saturday at Capitol Hill’s Miller Community Center. The session is described as a full-body workout designed to increase strength, decrease body fat and improve overall conditioning.
Different levels of difficulty will be offered for most exercises. Each session runs from 10 to 11 a.m. and costs $10. No registration is required.

It’s by no means your only choice. Just about every community and many health clubs conduct boot camps — sometimes in parks.
These are great workouts that are both social and serious, but any participant — especially one who has led a sedentary winter — should listen to his or her inner voice and either slow down, modify, or even stop if the body says so.
