Q: Do you know of a search engine that will help locate a particular wine from Seattle retailers?

A: Many online wine sites are designed to sell specific wines, not find the wines you want. The best general-use, wine-buying engine I’ve found is www.wine-searcher.com. This is a search engine whose database includes retail wine stores, wine auctions, price lists and catalogs from all over the country. Basic services are free, and you can specify where to do the search (state of Washington, for example) to winnow down the responses. For

a modest fee, the site will also provide additional help in finding the best prices for a given bottle and vintage.
