Q: We love the 69 cent oyster happy hour at Whole Foods on Westlake but haven’t seen it offered in a while. Please don’t tell me they’ve stopped.

A: It will be back, though no return date has been announced, a store manager said.

I wouldn’t expect it back any time soon, though. Oysters are harder to come by during the summer. And a store manager said that with the recent Penn Cove oil spill, Whole Foods has to wait until oyster production there picks up again.

To the uninitiated, that 69 cent oyster happy hour is one of the great deals in Seattle. The line starts forming about 15 minutes before the oysters are served and can stretch to the other end of the store. It’s, uh, a very big store.

Whole Foods on Westlake, though, still offers other happy-hour deals a few times a month, such as 50-cent chicken wings. (The next happy hour is 5-7 p.m. Thursday with $6.99 spareribs.) Folks don’t realize it, but you can buy any bottle of beer or wine in the store and drink it in the cafe during happy hour. No corkage fee. None of the markup that you would get if you were to order a bottle of wine in a restaurant. And the store has a large outdoor seating area.

Q: My wife and I don’t get out of work in time to enjoy happy-hour festivities. And when we find a baby-sitter on Saturdays, we can’t find a bar or restaurant that offers happy hour. Suggestions in Queen Anne, where we live, or in the North End?

A: Try Pair, a charming, cozy little small-plate joint in Ravenna. For happy hour, Pair serves addicting beef-brisket sliders cut with some horseradish and pickled shallots, and it has one of the best mac-and-cheese dishes in the North End.

In upper Queen Anne, LloydMartin does a great happy hour from 5-6 p.m. that few know about. Some of the most polished noshes around, including ravioli stuffed with a quail egg. Menu changes daily.

The most popular Saturday happy hour is Toulouse Petit Kitchen and Lounge in Lower Queen Anne, with its large menu of Cajun and other Louisiana-inspired fare. It’s crowded and loud, which some find a stressful atmosphere, and others find festive.
