A world premiere about friends on the Appalachian Trail and an Agatha Christie thriller are on Issaquah-based Village Theatre's 2012-13 season list.
For its 2012-13 season Issaquah’s Village Theatre will revisit several classic Broadway musicals, present an Agatha Christie thriller, and offer the world premiere of the new musical “Trails,” about a pair of friends on the Appalachian Trail.
“Trails” is the latest show Village has workshopped in its Village Originals Annual New Musicals Festival, and later mounted in a full production. The success of previous Village Original works, notably the Tony Award-honored Broadway hits “Next to Normal” and “Million Dollar Quartet,” has made the Issaquah company a national showcase for new shows.
Describing “Trails” as “timely and relevant,” Village executive producer Robb Hunt commented, “(Here) in the Northwest, walking the Pacific Crest trail has become a new rite of passage for many local young adults. (The) quest for discovery of who we are and rediscovery of whom we wanted to be is extremely compelling.”
