Three Seattle-area high-school jazz bands are competing this weekend at the Essentially Ellington competition in New York. Starting at 11 a.m. Friday, tune in to a live stream of the competition featuring bands from Garfield, Roosevelt and Edmonds-Woodway high schools here.

The stream of the competition continues Saturday at 8 a.m. and Sunday at 7 a.m., with a 1 p.m. Sunday announcement of the top three winners by Lincoln Center artistic director Wynton Marsalis. For the first time this year, the final concert, beginning at 4:30 p.m. Sunday and featuring the top three bands, will also be streamed. At the end of the concert, Marsalis will announce the first, second and third place winners and soloist awards. (All times PDT).

Roosevelt and Garfield have dominated the Essentially Ellington competition for more than a decade, winning first place seven times (Garfield four, Roosevelt three).
