The Seattle Chamber Music Society has announced the lineup for its 2013 Summer Festival.
Between June 29 and July 26, SCMS will present 12 concerts at Benaroya Hall, each one preceded by a free recital. There’s also a free all-Dvorák concert, “Dvorák in America,” in Volunteer Park on July 17 at 7 p.m., and a budget-priced Family Concert on July 13.
Musical highlights include SCMS’s continued celebration of Benjamin Britten’s centenary with performances of his Sonata for Cello and Piano and Lachrymae for Viola and Piano. Multiple works by Beethoven, Brahms, Shostakovich and Tchaikovsky are also on the roster.
Female 19th-century composers Fanny Mendelssohn-Hensel and Clara Schumann are featured. American composer Lawrence Dillon’s “Sanctuary,” an SCMS commission, will have its world premiere.
