RAVE To the Seahawks fans who let regular commuters board the train in Edmonds ahead of them. Thanks for helping us get to work that morning; hope you had a great time!
RAVE AND RANT Rave for the recent beautiful snow that gave children a chance to sled and dogs a chance to play. Rant to the idiots who wheeled three huge grocery carts onto the temporarily frozen Bitter Lake where they now rest at the bottom, a loss to the store and a disturbance for the lake’s wildlife.
RANT AND RAVE Rant to the teenaged girls who refused to let small children, not tall enough to block their view but old enough to be Hawk fans, stand or even kneel in front of them to see at the Seahawks parade. I’m 75 years old with teenage grandchildren and admire today’s young people for their community involvement and willingness to impact social change, so I was speechless to witness this selfishness on such a proud celebratory day in our beautiful city. Rave to the woman near us who helped my husband in and out of his chair and wrapped blankets around him; he’s almost 78 years old, not in great health, but he wouldn’t have missed honoring our Hawks for anything.
RAVE To the sweet couple who shared their sports bar booth with us to watch the Super Bowl after we’d waited in line for the place to open only to find all the seats taken, and to the wacky, high-spirited Canadian fans who came from Whistler, B.C., to cheer our team and country, including standing on their chairs to sing “The “Star- Spangled Banner” with hands over their hearts.

RAVE AND RANT Rave to the Super Bowl Parade; thanks Seahawks! Rant to the inconsiderate people lighting joints and getting stoned 2 feet in front of my 12- and 13-year-old boys at the event. Are you kidding me? I saw many others doing the same. Restraint, people, restraint! Clean up your act, Seattle, if you want future visitors.
RANT For the lack of acknowledgment that, with all due respect to the Seattle Storm championships and the 1979 Sonics, Seattle’s first “World Championship” was in hockey, accomplished by the 1917 Seattle Metropolitans defeating the Montreal Canadiens to win the Stanley Cup.
RAVE To the taxi driver who drove us from the airport to Kent in the snow after many turned us down. The taxi couldn’t make it up the steep hill to our condo, so a mighty rave to the Kent policemen who carried our bags up the snowy, icy hill to our door. What great guys!
