Auggie Smith, of Portland, has won the 31st annual Seattle Comedy Competition. Smith’s victory marks the first time a comedian has won both the Seattle and San Francisco comedy competitions in the same year. Smith won in San Francisco last month.
The Seattle finals were held Sunday at the Moore Theatre. Smith was awarded $5,000 in cash and a headliner slot at Seattle’s Comedy Underground. Though out-of-towners outnumbered regional performers three to one this year, Northwesterners took four of the five top spots. Billy Wayne Davis, of Seattle, took second place. Third went to Portland’s Dax Jordan; Seattle’s Drew Barth placed fourth. Fifth place went to Los Angeles comic Eddie Pence.
