Seattle pianist Craig Sheppard takes note of the 150th anniversary of Debussy's birth with a performance of the composer's 24 Preludes on Oct. 23, 2012
Pianist Craig Sheppard of the University of Washington’s School of Music is throwing a keyboard party. It’s called “Happy Birthday, Claude, Part I,” and it pays tribute to French composer Claude Debussy on the 150th anniversary of his birth. Debussy’s 24 Preludes are on the program, and if you’ve never seen Sheppard ripple, dart and incise his way up and down the piano keys, you’re in for a treat. “Part II” follows in April. 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Meany Theater, University of Washington, Seattle; $12-$20 (206-543-4880 or www.music.washington.edu).
