3 stars“To Rome with Love”(R): Woody Allen’s latest offering — which stars Alec Baldwin, Jesse Eisenberg, Greta Gerwig, Roberto Benigni, Penélope Cruz, Judy Davis and Ellen Page — covers four stories that occur simultaneously. Says Seattle Times movie critic Moira Macdonald: The “writer/director is on vacation here, and he takes us (and a fine cast) along with him, ensuring that we all enjoy the city’s pleasures.”

4 stars“The Other Dream Team”(not rated): The story of the 1992 Lithuanian men’s basketball team — whose athletes, free from Soviet rule, join forces with the Grateful Dead to fund an Olympics run — ends with a showdown against the goliath Russians.

3.5 stars“Wake in Fright” (R): One of the seminal Australian films of the 1970s, Ted Kotcheff’s digitally restored outback drama stars Gary Bond as a schoolteacher who spends his Christmas holidays gambling, drinking and hunting kangaroos. “Several decades later, it still chills,” says movie reviewer John Hartl.

2.5 stars“Farewell, My Queen”(R, subtitled): Benoît Jacquot’s French drama takes us to the court of Marie Antoinette (Diane Kruger) in the final days before the outbreak of the French Revolution.

2 stars“Won’t Back Down”(PG): A teacher (Viola Davis) and a mother (Maggie Gyllenhaal) band together and create a movement to save a failing inner-city elementary school.

1.5 stars“The Possession” (PG-13): It’s a version of “The Exorcist,” but with a Jewish twist involving a demon from a dybbuk box possessing a young girl. Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Kyra Sedgwick and Natasha Calis star.

1.5 stars“Taken 2” (PG-13): The sequel brings back Liam Neeson as retired CIA operative Bryan Mills, but this time he and his ex-wife (Famke Janssen) get abducted.
