“The Act of Killing” (not rated, for mature audiences; in English and Indonesian, with subtitles): Joshua Oppenheimer’s documentary takes a look at Indonesia’s historical genocide through the eyes of some self-justifying killers who, excited to be part of a movie, stage scenes for Oppenheimer of torture, rape and the burning of villages.
“Birth of the Living Dead” (not rated; for mature audiences): This documentary covers the rise of George Romero’s 1968 zombie classic “Night of the Living Dead” and its enduring social, political and pop-cultural influence.

“Runner Runner” (R): A good-guy grad student (Justin Timberlake) travels to Costa Rica to confront a bad-guy tycoon (Ben Affleck) with a network of online-gambling sites. A beautiful woman (Gemma Arterton) enters the fold, as well as an FBI guy (Anthony Mackie) — and crocodiles.
