“Her” (R): Joaquin Phoenix plays a lonely man who falls in love with the voice (Scarlett Johansson) of his software operating system in Spike Jonze’s unconventional romantic comedy, set in a slightly futuristic Los Angeles. The film — nominated for best picture, score, song and production design — won an Oscar for Jonze’s original screenplay.
“Stalingrad” (R; in Russian and German): Fyodor Bondarchuk’s 3D account of the World War II battle includes English subtitles that leap out at you.
