Dancing horses, pygmy goats, pig races, midway rides, Motorsports Mayhem, entertainment and warm scones with raspberry jam are among a myriad something-for-everyone attractions at this weekend’s Spring Fair in Puyallup.
Many features of the newly named Washington State Fair in September, the largest annual attraction in the state, are on hand at the Spring Fair, the state’s seventh-largest fair. Animal shows and attractions include the 4-H Northwest Junior Livestock Show and Sale, Washington Shepherds’ Extravaganza, miniature horses and daily DockDogs shows and pig races.
Fiesta Mexicana features a fashion show for Quinceañeras and weddings at 3:15 p.m. Saturday and daily dancing-horses performances. The Garden Show inspires green thumbs with display gardens and visits from gardening celebrities Ciscoe Morris and Marianne Binetti.
Free entertainment on two stages, Fireworks Spectaculars at 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Creative Kids showcase of robotics, art, baking, photography and other kids’ creations, Auto Alley Pacific Raceway dragsters and LeMay Collection classic cars display and shopping from 400 vendors are among attractions included with fair admission.

Rides are a always a fair favorite, whether you’re an Extreme Scream or Roller Coaster thrill seeker, a fan of the merry-go-round or Grand Wheel or looking for kiddie-ride fun for the preschool set.
New features this year include Aussie Kingdom kangaroos, wallabies, birds and lizards from Australia in three shows daily and free country music concerts at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Kids Zone activities and entertainment includes a new Root Beer Garden and AG-Ventureland with goat and cow milking, crafts and other agriculture-themed fun for kids.
The Monster Truck Show and Demolition Derby reserved-seating events are available at additional charge. Admission discounts and Ride & Game Saver Packs are available with advance purchase, and parking in fair lots is free.
