Head to historic downtown Snoqualmie for the 75th annual Snoqualmie Railroad Days festival celebrating the town’s heritage as a railroad and logging center and as home of the Snoqualmie Indian Tribe, with entertainment, food, art activities, train rides and a grand parade.
The Snoqualmie Depot train station, built in 1890 and restored as the Northwest Railway Museum with historical exhibits and a gift shop, is the hub of the festival and the historic downtown district.
The museum hosts five-mile vintage-train excursions with a stop overlooking Snoqualmie Falls as part of Railroad Days Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and runs regular trips Saturdays and Sundays through October. More than 70 steam and diesel locomotives, freight cars, passenger cars and specialized railway equipment undergoing or awaiting restoration are stored outside the depot; there’s no charge to visit the depot and surrounding grounds.
Entertainment, arts in the depot, food vendors and a beer and wine garden kick off festival activities Friday evening and continue all weekend. Saturday events include a pancake breakfast starting at 7 a.m. and grand parade at 11 a.m., with kids’ activities and a model-train show Saturday and Sunday. Sunday features the Legends Classic Car Show specialty-car display by The Legends Car Club.
