Bill on biology graduation requirement stalls in Olympia: A bill that would have removed a biology exam from state graduation requirements has stalled in the state Legislature after being referred to a Senate committee that doesn’t meet during special sessions. Officials have estimated that roughly 2,000 students across the state failed the test and many of them will not be able to graduate because of it.

Inslee announces budget deal that includes teacher pay raise: Gov. Jay Inslee announced a tentative budget deal on Saturday, saying the plan includes cost-of-living adjustments for teachers and a reduction in college tuition, as well as $1.3 billion more for K-12 education.
