Brian Valentine, a senior vice president at Amazon.com who joined the online retailer in 2006 after a nearly 20-year career at Microsoft, is retiring.
Valentine, who ran Amazon’s e-commerce platform business, is one of 11 executives listed as officers of the company on its website. As key as he has been at the company, his profile remained modest.
But Valentine, 54, is not without flair. He’s an accomplished bowhunter and a hockey player, and he hired Tom Petty to play at his 2012 wedding.
“Brian has decided to retire in February and the teams he managed will report into other senior leaders at Amazon,” Amazon said in a statement. An Amazon spokesman said Valentine was unavailable to comment.
