Q: I have the “bathroom blues,” and I want to upgrade my bathroom with a brand-new showerhead. Since this project is a relatively simple plumbing project, I may want to explore my showerhead options.
What are some good, better, best types of showerheads that can be installed without turning this project into a big deal?
A: Replacing a showerhead is a popular do-it-yourself project. Usually, there is no need to shut off the water to the house since the tub/shower mixing valve shuts down the water to the showerhead.
Also, as long as the chrome shower arm pipe is in good shape, the old showerhead usually comes off pretty easily. Then the new head can be installed.

Just follow the instructions that come with your showerhead. Here are three of my favorite showerhead types that can be installed directly to your existing shower arm pipe:
Multifunction model. This type looks like a standard showerhead, but it can deliver a variety of sprays. Spray choices can include massage mode, target sprays and misting.
Hand shower with mounting bracket. This kind of handheld shower features a special bracket that attaches directly to your shower arm, and it has a built-in cradle to hold the hand-shower assembly in place. Use it as a shower or hand shower.
Wireless speaker/shower. Yes, there are showerheads that play music. These water-safe, battery-operated showerheads feature a removable Bluetooth wireless speaker surrounded by angled spray nozzles. A wireless showerhead won’t just wash away your bathroom blues, it will let you wash with your bathroom blues.
