For the last three years, Haggen has been remodeling stores to highlight the Bellingham-based company’s ties to the Pacific Northwest.

Haggen Woodinville is the latest in a line of 13 TOP Food and Haggen stores to be rebranded as a Haggen Northwest Fresh concept store, leaving seven stores still needing a face-lift.

The redesigned stores showcase the company’s commitment to offering sustainable, locally grown food options. Store signage highlights long-standing partnerships with local farmers, ranchers and food suppliers, and displays elevate the best of local, seasonal and organic foods.

In October, Haggen stores partnered with Portland-based Shepherd’s Grain, a cooperative of Northwest farmers that prides itself on sustainability and traceability — knowing exactly which farms supplied the grain for each sack of flour it produces. The partnership allows Haggen shoppers to use a code displayed daily in each bakery to learn which Shepherd’s Grain farmer grew the grain for that day’s bread, doughnuts, pies, muffins and bagels.

The seven remaining stores offer the same product selection, but have yet to have signs replaced and the insides remodeled, said Allison McGillivray director of marketing for Haggen.

The remaining stores include: TOP Food stores in Grays Harbor and Puyallup; and Haggen stores in Burlington, Mount Vernon, Stanwood in Washington, and Oregon City and Tualatin in Oregon.

In 2013, Haggen closed seven underperforming stores last summer, starting with Shoreline and Bellevue.

The Edmonds and Arlington stores are currently in liquidation, and will be closed by the end of summer, leaving 18 Haggen and TOP Food stores in Oregon and Washington. The company said the closures are a culmination of unsuccessful lease renewal negotiations with the property owner.

The Woodinville Haggen is located at 17641 Garden Way Northeast. The store was not closed during the remodel, but it will have its official grand reopen Wednesday at 11 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and other festivities.
