Boeing confirmed Wednesday that it issued more than 300 layoff notices companywide last week, about 200 of them in Washington state.
The vast majority of the local workers who got the 60-day notices, about 180 employees, are represented by the white-collar union, the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA).
About 50 of the SPEEA people were engineers; the rest were technical staff members, including planners, data analysts and machine programmers.
No production workers represented by the International Association of Machinists (IAM) union were in this latest monthly layoff list.

In March, Boeing said that, by year’s end, it intends to cut about 800 IAM-represented production jobs, mainly because the 787 and 747-8 jet assembly lines need fewer people as they transition into routine production.
In April, engineering Vice President Mike Delaney announced Boeing will reduce its SPEEA-represented engineering workforce by 1,500 to 1,700 employees this year, partly through attrition, but also with about 700 layoffs.
Many of those people directly support the production system. Boeing also has been shifting some small engineering work packages from its Puget Sound-area facilities to its sites in California, Missouri and South Carolina.
Still, Boeing spokesman Steve Davis said total layoffs this year may not quite reach those announced targets.
“We have not laid off as many people from the Commercial Airplanes unit as we thought we might earlier in the year, partly because we’ve been successful in finding positions for many of those people,” Davis said.
Likewise, the layoff notices issued Friday are effective Dec. 13, but some who received the notices may be reassigned before then, thereby escaping a layoff.
Davis said Boeing expects to hire between 8,000 and 10,000 people companywide this year, although with layoffs and attrition the overall employment level at year-end is expected to be down.
At the end of September, counting attrition as well as layoffs, Boeing was down 2,384 jobs in Washington state this year. Companywide, the workforce is down nearly 3,000 for the year.
